Center Stage Production
Center Stage Productions is a community-owned theater company operated by Center for Spiritual Living San Jose members and volunteers. We produce main stream plays with a production value and quality that rivals any other Bay Area theater company. Some of our past shows include: The Odd Couple and Rumors (both by Neil Simon), Inherit the Wind, It’s a Wonderful Life, and many more; we’ve received favorable reviews in the Mercury News and local community papers, too. Center Stage Productions is proud to serve our community – and the South Bay – by giving the gifts of joy, laughter and love through the performing arts! We continue to uncover new talent each season, and generate revenue for our Center while leaving our audience members uplifted and inspired. We offer new and fun ways for our people to be in service in a fun and exciting environment, and maybe make a few new friends, too. Every play we produce at CSL requires countless hours, both on stage and off and we’d love to have you join us.
Here are just a few examples of how you can serve:
Greeter/Usher on performance nights
Set construction/decoration (for the power tool & paint brush crowd!)
Lighting and Sound
Stage Managing (experience preferred for this one)
Props and Costumes
Marketing & Graphics
Ticket Sales / Box office
Champagne Gala Opening – shopping, set up, clean up
If you would like any information regarding these many areas of service, or if you have any other questions about Center Stage Productions, please contact: CSP [at] cslsj.org

Volunteer and Outreach
Sacred Service
“Seva” is a Sanskrit word meaning “selfless service” or work performed without any thought of reward or repayment. We believe that service to others is part of our 5-point balanced spiritual practice, and we want to create an environment where everyone feels like they are an honored guest in our home. Here at the Center, there is room for everybody, there is a space for you to be part of this spiritual family. Seva is an opportunity to express your gifts and create community. Your creativity has a place here and maybe there is a possibility for you to express in a way you have never done before.
Throughout our community and programs there are a multitude of opportunities to help ensure the smooth operation of our spiritual home. From very visible leadership to the quiet behind the scenes events, volunteer service allows people to meet others, deepen their connection to the community, and contribute to the greater good for all. As the service to the community is fulfilled, the server is filled up too.
We invite you to let us partner with you in finding your perfect place in the spiritual practice of seva! To volunteer, email volunteer [at] cslsj.org.
Outreach
The Center’s Outreach team is focused on positively impacting the lives of disadvantaged and underserved populations within Santa Clara County. We’re a caring, fun and energetic group that wants to “give back” and “pay it forward” in our local communities. Each year we organize 4-6 Outreach projects that provide opportunities for the congregation to actively get involved. Some of our past Outreach projects (and partner organizations) include:
- School supplies and backpacks for low-income kindergarteners (with Grail Family Services, www.gfsfamilyservices.org)
- Holiday gifts for low-income / disabled seniors (with Family Giving Tree, www.familygivingtree.org)
- Warm clothing for the homeless (with LifeMoves, www.lifemoves.org)
- Stuffed animals for children entering the foster care system (with Child Advocates, www.bemyadvocate.org)
- Letters and cards for active military overseas (with Operation: Care and Comfort, www.occ-usa.org)
- Toiletries for teenagers in foster care (with Child Advocates, www.bemyadvocate.org)
- Non-perishable food (with Second Harvest Food Bank, shfb.org)
- Critical home repairs for low-income homeowners (with Rebuilding Together, rebuildingtogethersv.org)
- Plus others!
You’re always welcome to attend an Outreach meeting to see if you want to join our team. We meet several times a year on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Check out the community calendar to see when our next meeting is scheduled. We look forward to meeting you soon!
