Youth & Family
Jennifer Bick, 83x125

We are a safe, fun-loving and inclusive environment for our youth to explore their own divinity and be supported on their journey through life. We are here to love who they are as they are.

Here we celebrate the youngest members of our spiritual community! We currently offer three to four rooms each Sunday, depending upon attendance for our youth. Our programs include conversations, crafts and play all focused around the principles of Science of Mind.

The Science of Mind principles include: we are all One, our thoughts are powerful, and we are always learning and growing. We embody kindness, compassion, self-empowerment, and courage as we develop our ability to navigate the world using spiritual practices such as meditation, yoga, journaling and affirmative prayer (spiritual mind treatment). We have the power to make the world better by who we are and how we live our lives.

Our Sunday classes begin at 10:30 (rooms open at 10:15) and conclude at the end of service. Each room is led by experienced volunteers that are dedicated to our youth and have studied the Science of Mind principles and practices we teach. Everyone who serves in our youth program is not only well versed in Science of Mind teaching, they are also cleared by state mandated background checks for working with children. Safety for our youth is essential. Our programs are specifically designed and organized by age groups, which are:

  • Littlest: 0-4 years
  • Littles: 5-9 years
  • Middles: 10-12 years
  • Teens: 13-18 years

For those who are not quite ready to join our program, children are always welcome in the sanctuary with their adults. We also have a family loft for the adults who would like to enjoy the service with their children without the worry of sound disrupting the service.

The youth are active and visible members of our community. They participate in many community events and host activities throughout the year.  If you want to know more about Youth and Family programs or want to get involved, please contact Jennifer Bick, RScP, our Director of Youth and Family at jenniferbick@cslsj.org or 408-221-6236. We are always accepting applications for new volunteers who are ready to support the youth of our community.

Teen Camp:

Teens and teen advisors have the opportunity to gather with teens from other Centers at least twice a year! Winter camp is a three day regional weekend camp in January and summer camp is a national week long camp  in July. Additionally, local Centers host overnight events where Bay Area teens have the opportunity to connect. For more information about camp, explore the General Information – CSL Teens (opens in new tab) website.
